Our Story

Wyngate Pits started with Rue and our very first litter in 2023. There was no big business plan behind it or some perfect idea of what we wanted this to become. Honestly, we were just doing it because we wanted to, and looking back now, there was so much we still had to learn.

That first litter definitely didn’t go as planned. We only sold Four puppies and ended up keeping five. At the time, we looked at that litter as a failure. Now they’re already 3 years old—seriously, where does the time go?—and looking back, things really did work out the way they were supposed to. The dogs we never planned on keeping became such a big part of Wyngate Pits and helped us continue what we started.

But the dogs weren’t the only reason we kept going. Somewhere along the way, we fell in love with the people side of it too. Meeting the families who chose one of our puppies and seeing how much love these dogs brought into their lives made everything feel different. What started as “let’s have a litter” slowly became something that meant so much more to us. By 2024, we knew we wanted to take Wyngate Pits seriously, and the families who believed in us became a huge part of the reason why.

Since then, we’ve learned a lot about what it really means to build a breeding program. We’ve made mistakes, changed things, had some hard days and some really great ones, and we’re still learning as we go. With every litter, we’ve grown a little more and become more sure of the kind of program we want Wyngate Pits to be. It may not have started with a perfect plan, but everything we’ve experienced along the way has helped make it what it is today.

It’s crazy to think that all of this came from Rue and a first litter that didn’t even go the way we hoped. Three years later, we have dogs we love, families all across the country that we’re still connected with, and a business that has become such a big part of our lives. We couldn’t have planned the way our story started, but we’re really thankful for where it brought us.
